This letter will serve to advise you of my decision from your disciplinary hearing held onJanuary 24, 2019. During your hearing, we discussed the incident that occurred on December14, 2018. During our discussion at your conduct hearing, we spoke about the charge in thisincident- “Violation of a Guide to Residence Hall Living Policies.” You informed me aboutyourself and your goals in life and here at Northeastern. You stated that you were not in theroom at the time of the incident but that the information was relayed to you as you had left forthe Winter break. You shared with me that you thought you left your room in appropriatecondition for closing, but upon receipt of the notification that your room did not passinspections you proceeded to clean it thoroughly. Lastly, you acknowledged that were aware ofthe cleanliness policies in place for the room, specifically for health and safety checks as well asmove-out/ closing at the end of the semester. I certainly appreciate your willingness to acceptresponsibility for your actions and your role in this situation. As a result of these findings, yourdisciplinary probation is being extended from Summer II Semester through the Fall 2019semester. Please be aware of what the University's policies and expectations are and howviolating those policies could hurt your future at the University and in your career. Note thatfuture violations of the Code of Conduct will result in increased sanctions.Based upon this information as well as careful consideration of all other information provided atthe hearing, I have issued the following findings for the charge(s) under consideration: Based upon the nature of the violation(s) and consideration of any disciplinary history (ifapplicable), the following sanctions have been imposed:Disciplinary probation, effective Summer II Semester 2019 and continuing through thecompletion of Fall Semester 2019. Disciplinary probation is a formal warning for violating theCode of Student Conduct. If you are found responsible for violating the Code during yourperiod of probation, you are subject to more serious sanctions being imposed upon you.You are required to write an essay of at least 1,250 words addressing the followingquestions:• Reflect on the policy you were found in violation of: why does it exist? What purpose does itserve?• How was your behavior inconsistent with the University's expectations?• If placed in a similar situation again, how would your actions be similar or different? Why?• Considering your disciplinary history, what is your plan for keeping yourself in good standingfor the rest of your time at Northeastern?• What challenges might you face while trying to stay in good standing? Be specific.• What are some strategies you can use to help you remain in good standing? Be specific.• How is your environment (i.e. friends, location, activities) a factor in the success of thisstrategy?• If you were found responsible for another violation, what would your sanction most likely be?What would the personal, academic and financial repercussions be if this were to happen?• What is the most important thing you have learned from this experience?
